MEET THE ARTIST
McLean Fletcher is a multidisciplinary artist whose visual art explores expressionism and portraiture. A self-taught painter who grew up on a farm in Virginia, she now lives a nomadic lifestyle, drawing inspiration from the interplay between the mystical immaterial world and the natural material world. In addition to her visual art, McLean is a filmmaker, writer, and classically trained actor, holding an MFA in Shakespeare. She treats her creative journey as an extension of her work as a healer and teacher, using art to explore and express the profound questions of being. Her multidisciplinary approach delves into the ontology of existence, bridging the material and invisible worlds.
Her work is internationally recognized, with paintings gracing homes around the globe. She has exhibited in galleries across the United States, from New York City to Laguna Beach, painted murals in Washington, DC, Asheville, NC, and Richmond, VA, and illustrated two children's books. Notable commissions include projects for Virginia Commonwealth University, Arc Boutique Hotels, and the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center in Florida.
McLean’s accolades include the 2016 Style Weekly Women in the Arts Award from Richmond, Virginia, and a feature in Curatorial, Volume 2: Leaders in Contemporary Art in 2018. In 2023, she served as Artistic Director at The Basement, a non-profit theatre and art gallery in Richmond. Currently represented by Artbid in Australia, McLean continues to bridge the worlds of classical theatre, film, and visual art, creating work that is deeply introspective, psychological, and spiritual.
